Options Higford offers a bespoke curriculum with personalised timetables in small class groups supported by high levels of skilled staff who all receive the training and support required to deliver support for students whose primary need is Autism. Staff receive training based upon the Outcomes First Group ‘Ask, Accept, Develop’ autism strategy and Trauma Informed Practice.
Our offer includes an in-house Clinical Team, comprising Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, who work in accordance with each individual EHCP to ensure these are fully met.
Learning takes place not just within the classrooms but within our extensive indoor and outdoor facilities which include a range of sensory rooms, fitness equipment and forest school within our 28 acre site. We also promote community-based learning and the skills for preparation for life through our ‘Learning for Life’ curriculum.
We support the development of young people who are:
- happy and confident, with a positive self-esteem
- able to learn independently and cooperatively
- independent and sociable
- able to communicate their feelings, wishes and needs
- able to make choices, manage their own behaviour and enjoy life
We aim to increase our student’s everyday functioning and skills in the areas of social communication, play and imagination, and in their ability to learn, so preparing them for a meaningful transition to adult life.
